Buying Spotify Premium without a foreign card

Last reviewed: Sep 20, 2026

Spotify does not accept an Iranian bank card. That is not the only obstacle: even with a foreign card, a mismatch between the account's country and the payment method tends to cut the subscription off mid-term. This is what is actually needed, and what is not.

Why paying directly does not work

Spotify charges through the international card networks, like any other global service. Iranian cards are not connected to those networks, so the payment never reaches the approval stage.

Gift cards and virtual cards sometimes work once, but a subscription is a recurring charge. When the second or third attempt is declined, the subscription stops — usually in the middle of a term.

What is actually required

What is not required

About the password, plainly

Asking for the password is normal in this market, but the reason is rarely stated: to put the subscription on your own account, someone has to sign in to that account. There is no other way, unless you are handed a ready-made account instead — which is then not yours.

We store it encrypted, delete it once Premium is active, and you can change it at that point; the subscription is unaffected.

The account's country

Spotify prices and regulates each country separately, and may want the account's country to match the payment method. If your account is set to another country, say so before you pay rather than after.
